The Lord orchestrated me to paint this picture of two fires - one coming down from heaven, the other reaching up from the earth on a very specific day. Unbeknownst to me, the sermon was a frank discussion between my white, German-descendent pastor and an African American woman about the death of George Floyd. It was a time of honest emotions and perspectives that broke down walls and started healthy dialogues. The Jacob's Ladder "appeared" without me being aware. That's how God does things in my paintings sometimes. The symbolism of connecting two races, two worlds (black and white AND heaven and earth) amazed me to tears.
Worshipful Art is a creative expression of worship which is simultaneously inspired by and given back to God. Deborah starts in front of a congregation/audience with a blank canvas and no particular image in mind.
